Let the games begin!
With the 2024 NFL draft set to kick-off in less than an hour, an AFC team is reportedly “working on a trade” for San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
It was rumored earlier Thursday that the 49ers were looking to move up in the NFL draft by either trading Aiyuk or fellow wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
Now, New England Patriots insider Tom Curran says that the Patriots are looking at Aiyuk.

This from Dov Kleiman on X via Curran:
“Patriots are working on a potential trade for #49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk, per @tomecurran“
It seems highly unlikely at this time that the Patriots are going to deal the third overall pick and Drake Maye seems to be the future signal-caller for the Patriots so this likely wouldn’t help the 49ers move up in the draft.
The 49ers currently have the 31st overall pick.
Aiyuk has been the subject of trade speculation for quite some time.
Earlier today, the rumored asking price for Aiyuk was revealed.
“The 49ers are reportedly seeking a first-round pick in exchange for Aiyuk, but this has been met with resistance from other teams. An unnamed executive suggested to the Chronicle’s Michael Silver that this asking price is too steep, while another general manager hinted that a second-round pick might be a more acceptable compromise.”
The Patriots featured arguably the weakest wide receiver group in the NFL in 2023 so it’s not a huge surprise they would like to pair a rookie quarterback like Maye with a proven playmaker such as Aiyuk.
