New York Jets quarterback has revealed his initial thoughts immediately following the Achilles injury which ended his 2023 season in Week 1.
Rodgers made an appearance on the “I Can Fly” podcast and revealed that the feared his career was over following the Achilles tear he suffered in his first game with the New York Jets.
“I was really thinking, ‘This is it. You don’t come back from this injury,” Rodgers shared.
Before the game began in his Jets debut, Rodgers dashed onto the field carrying the American flag during player introductions.

However, moments later, his debut and the hopes of Jets fans were dashed when a tackle from Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd ended his season prematurely.
“I had this incredible offseason experience in a new city, a new town, with new teammates, a new organization, an owner for the first time, and really falling back in love with the game that I first fell in love with when I was 5 years old,” Rodgers said. “It was absolutely beautiful and special and deep and rich and yummy, and just incredible.”
“And then, one of the most heartbreaking nights of my life, when I played four plays. Talk about an ego death.”
Despite previous rumors that he may retire to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate in the upcoming presidential election, all signs point to Rodgers being under center for the Jets when the 2024 NFL season begins.
