Travis Kelce had a heartwarming surprise waiting for him when he returned to the Kansas City Chiefs headquarters for training camp this week.
Tucked inside his locker was a sweet note, courtesy of actors Tyler Hynes and Hunter King, who are starring in the upcoming Hallmark movie, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. This charming gesture was orchestrated by none other than Travis’ mom, Donna Kelce.
Donna, known for her enthusiastic support of her son, encouraged Hynes and King to sneak the note into Travis’ locker. Hynes shared the story in an interview with People, saying, “I wrote the lyrics to ‘Friends in Low Places’ [by Garth Brooks] because he sang it at the [Super Bowl] parade that I was at, and I said, ‘Don’t ever change.'”
King was surprised and delighted by Hynes’ note. “That’s what you wrote?” she exclaimed. She then shared her own message, “I wrote something like, ‘Thanks for letting us steal your field and your mom.'”
Hynes appreciated King’s note, responding with a smile, “I love that.”

Though Travis Kelce doesn’t appear in the movie, his mother, Donna, makes a cameo as the manager of the Kansas City BBQ restaurant Norma & Nic’s. King praised Donna’s presence on set, “She’s a sweetheart. She’s lovely and I loved having her on set. She was so fun to talk to.”
The filming of Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story kicked off in July, with production taking place entirely in Kansas City. The movie promises to be a delightful holiday romance, with King’s character, Alana, convinced that her family’s lifelong devotion to the Kansas City Chiefs makes them frontrunners for the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest.
According to a Chiefs press release, the team’s director of fan engagement, Derrick, played by Hynes, is tasked with determining if Alana’s family is a strong contender. As Derrick and Alana spend time together, sparks fly, hinting at a blossoming romance.
Hynes, known for his role in The Three Wise Men and a Baby, had previously appeared alongside Donna Kelce in a promo for the NFL earlier this year, showcasing their delightful chemistry and foreshadowing their collaboration in the Hallmark film.
This charming blend of football and festive romance is sure to warm hearts, just like the sweet notes left for Travis Kelce by the film’s stars. As the movie brings a touch of holiday magic to the Chiefs’ storied fandom, fans of both the team and Hallmark movies eagerly await its release, ready to celebrate the intertwining of love, family, and football.
