The Kansas City Chiefs, fresh off securing back-to-back Super Bowl championships, are now venturing into new territory by partnering with Hallmark to create a holiday-themed movie, set to capture the hearts of football and romance fans alike.
On Tuesday, the team announced their involvement in the production of “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” a film that promises to blend the festive spirit of the holiday season with the adrenaline-pumping excitement of football.
The movie is scheduled to begin shooting next month in Kansas City, with significant scenes planned at the iconic Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs President Mark Donovan expressed enthusiasm about this novel collaboration, stating, “We are honored to partner with Hallmark on a project as unique as this. As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences. This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”

The film will be produced under the banner of Skydance Sports, a division formed in collaboration with the NFL, indicating a significant investment in blending sports with entertainment.
To celebrate the launch of this partnership, Kansas City will illuminate its downtown skyline in purple and red on Tuesday night, signaling the city’s support and excitement for the upcoming project.
The movie will feature a star-studded cast including Tyler Hynes, Hunter King, and Ed Begley Jr., and is set to premiere as part of Hallmark’s beloved annual Countdown to Christmas event.
According to the film’s synopsis, Hunter King will portray Alana, a die-hard Chiefs fan competing for the title of “Fan of the Year.” She encounters Derrick, played by Tyler Hynes, the fan engagement director responsible for judging the contest. The plot thickens when Alana’s grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) cherished vintage Chiefs good luck winter hat mysteriously disappears, leading her to question her beliefs in fate and destiny—and her budding relationship with Derrick.
The story promises a blend of holiday cheer, romantic misunderstandings, and maybe, just maybe, a touch of Christmas magic to set things right.
“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” not only aims to showcase the infectious spirit and traditions of the Chiefs Kingdom but also taps into the team’s strategy to engage a broader audience demographic, particularly on a platform like Hallmark, known for its family-friendly holiday films.
As the Chiefs also prepare to play on Christmas Day for the second consecutive year, this film project aligns perfectly with their seasonal celebrations and broader brand expansion efforts.
