A recent report suggests that Tom Brady might play a pivotal role in influencing a specific head coach candidate to join the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.
The current interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, Antonio Pierce, is reportedly scheduled to interview for the vacant head coaching position with the Tennessee Titans over the weekend.
Interestingly, Tom Brady’s connection with a former Patriots teammate could potentially assist the Raiders in securing the services of the former Titans coach.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer shared insights, indicating that the Raiders could emerge as a team to watch in the pursuit of Mike Vrabel. Brady’s presence at the Raiders’ practice on Friday, the final practice of the regular season, raised eyebrows. It was the first time Brady had been at the facility since the departure of former coach Josh McDaniels and former GM Dave Ziegler.
Breer suggested on FS1’s The Herd with Colin Cowherd, “If Brady is going to be involved in this coaching search, you know who he’s very close with. The guy he played eight years with in New England.” Breer emphasized that Brady’s connection to Vrabel appears “stronger” than his link to Harbaugh.

According to Breer, the Raiders could present Vrabel with the opportunity to shape the entire team in his image, aligning with his aspirations in Tennessee. However, while Breer sees the potential connection, many Raiders fans express a preference for Antonio Pierce as the head coach.
Pierce is reportedly “firmly in the mix” for the Raiders’ permanent head coaching position, but he is also “exploring all options,” as noted by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Pierce assumed the role of interim head coach for the Raiders in November following the dismissal of Josh McDaniels, guiding the team to a 5-4 record in the final two months of the season, including a notable Christmas Day victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
If the Raiders decide against Pierce, Tennessee could be a viable destination for him, potentially paving the way for Vrabel to step into the coaching role in Las Vegas.
