Despite Antonio Pierce’s commendable performance as the interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, there are reports suggesting that the team’s owner, Mark Davis, is seeking a high-profile figure for the permanent position.
NFL insider Dianna Russini, during an appearance on the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, revealed that Davis is looking for a “star in Vegas.”
The team is reportedly exploring potential candidates, with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh being one of the names under consideration. While Pierce had a positive record as interim head coach, Davis seems inclined to make a significant coaching hire for the team.
“Mark Davis wants a star in Vegas…They are definitely doing their homework on some of these available coaches, one of them being Jim Harbaugh,” According to Russini.
Based on the way the season concluded, it appears that the players on the Raiders would prefer to retain Antonio Pierce as their head coach.
The Raiders were under the ownership of Al Davis from 1972 until his passing in 2011. Following Al’s death, control of the franchise transitioned to his son, Mark Davis, while Al’s wife Carol retained ownership. The Raiders have gained recognition for their expansive fan base and unique team culture.
