Following the Masters tournament on Sunday, rumors swirled about Rory McIlroy potentially leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf.
However, McIlroy swiftly quashed these speculations on Tuesday, reaffirming his commitment to the PGA Tour in a clear-cut manner.
Previously, there were claims that McIlroy was nearing a deal with LIV Golf, supposedly worth $850 million, plus equity in the Saudi-backed league. Addressing these rumors in a conversation with Todd Lewis from the Golf Channel, McIlroy emphasized that no such offer had ever been made to him and expressed his long-term intention to remain with the PGA Tour.
“I honestly don’t know how these things get started,” McIlroy stated. “I’ve never been offered a number from LIV. And I’ve never contemplated going to LIV. I think I’ve made it clear over the last two years that I don’t think it’s something for me. Doesn’t mean that I judge people who have gone and played over there.”

“Personally, for me, my future is here on the PGA Tour. It’s never gonna be any different. I’m obviously here to play this PGA Tour event this week. And I will play the PGA Tour for the rest of my career.”
Given McIlroy’s vocal support for the PGA Tour during its ongoing rivalry with LIV Golf, his definitive stance aligns with his previous positions.
As discussions about a possible merger between the two leagues have slowed, the future remains uncertain. Regardless of the outcomes, it appears that McIlroy will continue to be a prominent figure in the PGA Tour for the foreseeable future.
