Bill Belichick’s reputation remains tarnished.
The annual NFL Players Association report cards, released on Wednesday, shed light on New England Patriots players’ sentiments toward former coach Bill Belichick.
Belichick received an overall grade of B-, ranking 27th among the 32 NFL coaches. Notably, only 55% of players felt that Belichick effectively managed their time, and they perceived him as unwilling to listen to the locker room. In both of these aspects, he ranked 31st among his coaching peers.

Remarkably, the only coach to fare worse than Belichick in these categories is his former protégé and Patriots assistant coach, Josh McDaniels. McDaniels, who was dismissed from his role as coach of the Las Vegas Raiders last season, received a dismal grade of D and ranked last in all three evaluated categories, indicating a complete loss of the locker room’s trust and support.
Following a disappointing 4–13 season, the New England Patriots opted to part ways with Belichick. Despite his extensive coaching experience, Belichick did not secure another coaching position during the offseason.
