Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has shared a heartfelt and concerning update about her father, Randy, on social media. In an Instagram story, Randi posted a photo of herself with her father, accompanied by the caption: “Please pray for my father.”
This update comes just three months after Randi shared an emotional snapshot of her daughter Mia sitting beside Randy in a hospital room. In that earlier post from September 13, Patrick’s grandfather was seen lying in a hospital bed, facing a television screen tuned to a Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers. At the time, Randi wrote: “Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well.”
While Randi has not disclosed the specifics of her father’s health challenges, the timing of this update is poignant as the Mahomes family prepares for an exciting milestone: the arrival of Patrick and Brittany Mahomes’ third child.
The couple, already parents to daughter Sterling and son Bronze, are expecting their second daughter any day now.

Patrick recently spoke about the impending birth during an interview around the Chiefs’ Christmas Day victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. “Any day now,” he said. “Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season, so I’ve got to try to not put so much stress on her through these football games.”
He also humorously added, “Hopefully God works the right way, and we can have that baby on the bye week somewhere, and then everything will work out perfectly.”
The Chiefs’ 29-10 win over the Steelers on Christmas Day secured their position as the AFC’s top seed, granting them a first-round bye in the playoffs. This means Mahomes and his team won’t play until January 18 or 19, giving him a rare stretch of time off.
With the Chiefs having little to gain in their final regular season game against the Denver Broncos on January 5, Mahomes is expected to rest, further ensuring he can focus on family during this critical period.
The added time off may provide Patrick with the opportunity to be present for the birth of his daughter and to offer support to his family amid his grandfather’s health challenges.
As Randi and the Mahomes family navigate this difficult time with Randy’s health, the broader community of fans and well-wishers has rallied with an outpouring of love and prayers.
With the excitement of a new baby on the horizon and the anticipation of the Chiefs’ playoff run, the family is balancing joy and concern in equal measure.
