Is the Bryce Young era already in jeopardy?
The Carolina Panthers have been facing significant challenges in the ongoing season. As an NFC team, they are yet to secure a victory through the first five games of the year, standing at 0-5. This has prompted them to consider some adjustments.
One of the key changes involves their rookie quarterback, Bryce Young, who was the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Panthers are looking to simplify things for the 22-year-old, primarily by reducing the complexity of play-calling and adjustments.
“When you look at some of the other rookies, Anthony Richardson, C.J. Stroud, they get to the line, they snap the ball and they run the play.

“With Bryce Young its like everything else, it’s protection, it’s adjustments it’s a lot… it does seem like it’s been too much.
“When you are not able to understand what’s in front of you, when you are unsure it makes you play slower and look slower. You seen some of the other rookies go out and really look like they’re thriving immediately. Now they’ve pulled back a lot, it is time for Young to really play and begin the process to show why had had drafted him.”
So far this season, Young has completed 64 percent of his passes, accumulating 750 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions.
When you have a rookie, it’s essential to create an environment where they feel as comfortable as possible. If that requires simplifying things and removing complexity, then that’s what needs to be done.
