That’s not a good look.
On April 19, the New York Mets joined the ranks of MLB teams unveiling their City Connect jerseys, becoming the 22nd team to do so.
These jerseys, a collaboration between Nike and the league, are designed to highlight and celebrate the distinct cultural characteristics of the team’s city.
The Mets have sported a color scheme of blue, white, and orange for quite some time.

Therefore, the introduction of a new color palette in black and purple is definitely a major change.
The New York Mets’ City Connect jerseys feature a black-fonted “NYC” across the front of the shirt, with an image of the Brooklyn Bridge printed across the hat.
They were not met with positive reviews.
Fans were quick to point out that they resembled a “prison jumpsuit.”
Despite the negative reviews, the Mets stood by their new jerseys.
According to SNY, the Mets chief marketing officer, Andy Goldberg said:
“We wanted it to capture the true essence of New York in a way that wherever you go in the world, if you’re wearing this jersey or a piece of swag from our City Connect story, it’s identifiable with the Mets”
What is certain is that Mets fans will love the jerseys if the team wins games while wearing them.
After a slow start, the Mets have recovered nicely and are currently 10-8 on the season.
