NY Jets QB Aaron Rodgers apparently seriously considered running for Vice President.
A few months ago, third-party presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. made the surprising revelation that he was considering Rodgers as his Vice Presidential running mate.
While Kennedy eventually chose Nicole Shanahan to be his running mate, Rodgers discussed his contemplation of the offer in a wide-ranging interview with Tucker Carlson, expressing his desire to help “make America great.”
“Oh yeah, I thought about it and wanted to hear what he [Kennedy] thought about it,” Rodgers said. “He gets cornered, this guy is willing to tackle the big issues in this country and keep it real. That resonated with me. What used to make America great, we need to get back to that. I love people who stand up for what they believe in, like yourself, Tucker.”
Rodgers also commented on Trump’s inability to “drain the swamp” during his presidency, suggesting that Trump may have been intimidated by what he discovered while in office.
“He had four years to do it and didn’t drain the swamp,” Rodgers said. “Whether he just got scared because of what he learned when he was in there, I think that’s very plausible.”
It would have been interesting to see Rodgers debate other vice presidential candidates ahead of the election.
