According to a report by Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, NBC is currently in talks with longtime broadcaster Cris Collinsworth to extend his contract through the 2029-30 season. Collinsworth’s existing contract with NBC is set to expire in 2026, but the anticipated new deal would add an additional four years to his tenure.
Reportedly earning approximately $12.5 million annually, Collinsworth is poised to cover two more Super Bowls for the network, with NBC scheduled to broadcast the Super Bowl in 2025-26 and in 2029-30 as part of a rotation with CBS, FOX, and ABC.
Collinsworth, a former All-Pro wide receiver, has been with NBC since 1990. In 2009, he took over as the color commentator on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” partnering with play-by-play analyst Al Michaels.

Following Michaels’ departure for Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” in 2022, Collinsworth now shares the “SNF” booth with Mike Tirico handling play-by-play duties.
While Collinsworth’s occasional controversial opinions may divide football fans, NBC seems to be pleased with his performance and is now poised to retain him through the remainder of the decade.
