If you’re harboring doubts about Patrick Mahomes at this stage, it’s likely you won’t become a fan, no matter the circumstances. The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs boasts multiple Super Bowl championships, numerous league MVPs, and an overall likable personality. It takes considerable scrutiny to find reasons not to support him.
However, one individual who tends to critique nearly everything has found reasons to question Mahomes. Jason Brown, a former head coach for Independence Pirates Football (featured on seasons 3 and 4 of Last Chance U), known for his critical perspective, shared his views on Mahomes’ success. Brown believes that Mahomes wouldn’t thrive outside the Chiefs and particularly attributes his success to the coaching of Andy Reid:

“I’m being honest about Mahomes. Without Andy Reid, Mahomes wouldn’t be as successful. Place him in Chicago, and how effective would Mahomes be? Nearly 50% of his throws are at or behind the line of scrimmage. He holds the record as the lowest-rated Super Bowl-winning quarterback. He operates in a system designed to enhance his success,” remarked Jason Brown.
While Mahomes undoubtedly possesses extraordinary talent, there’s acknowledgment that Andy Reid’s coaching contributes significantly to their success. Both Mahomes and Reid, individually and as a duo, can be acknowledged for their greatness.
