Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently made a guest appearance on ESPN’s Manningcast during Week 10 of Monday Night Football, and he had some interesting insights to share.

Former Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne, who retired after Super Bowl LVII, previously shared an intriguing anecdote about Mahomes: he claimed that Mahomes wears the same pair of red underwear for every game.
During his Manningcast appearance, Mahomes confirmed the peculiar tradition.
“First, my wife Brittany got them for me, so I’m not throwing you all down, but I have to wear them,” Mahomes said. “At the same time, I threw them on that first season, we had a pretty good season that season.
“I only wear them for game day though, so they’re not too worn down, they’re not like these nasty (underwear), I clean them. I wash them every once in a while at least. I mean if we’re on a hot streak, I can’t wash them, you know? I’ve just got to keep it rolling. As long as we’re winning. I’ll keep the superstition going.”
Remarkably, Mahomes’ adherence to this unusual ritual has coincided with significant success, including two Super Bowl victories and two MVP awards in his first six seasons in the league. Additionally, given his family life with multiple children, Mahomes assured that the underwear tradition doesn’t gross out his wife.
As for the longevity of underwear, hopefully they will last until he calls it a career.
