The Las Vegas Raiders have decided to part ways with a veteran quarterback ahead of free agency.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have released 38-year-old quarterback Brian Hoyer.
Hoyer signed with the Raiders in April of 2023 and spent most of the 2023 NFL season as a back-up to Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O’Connell.

Hoyer did start one game in 2023 when Garoppolo got injured which resulted in a 30-12 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 7.
The Raiders decided to start Aidan O’Connell at quarterback thereafter.
Hoyer has largely been a back-up throughout his career as he has only made 41 starts over his 15-year-career with the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, and Las Vegas Raiders.
Hoyer was considering retirement before signing with the Raiders last season so this could very well be the end for Hoyer.
