Deion Sanders has expressed his preference for his son Shedeur’s future NFL destination, emphasizing his desire to see him avoid playing in cold cities.
As Shedeur, currently playing under his father’s guidance at Colorado, gears up for the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders is vocal about his concerns regarding chilly climates. Reflecting on Shedeur’s upbringing in Texas and collegiate experiences in warmer locales like Jackson State and Colorado, Sanders is keen on ensuring his son remains in a comfortable environment.
During an interview with Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo on SiriusXM, Sanders highlighted Shedeur’s familiarity with milder temperatures and expressed a desire to avoid colder cities for his son’s professional career. ‘I don’t want [Shedeur] going nowhere cold next year,’ Sanders told Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo during a SiriusXM interview, per Pro Football Talk. ‘He grew up in Texas. He played in Jackson [State], played in Colorado. [The] season’s over before it gets cold in Colorado.’
‘I’m just thinking way ahead. I don’t want that for him.’
Sanders drew comparisons to previous draft selections like Justin Fields, emphasizing the importance of considering geographical factors when evaluating draft prospects. Drawing from his own experiences playing in both warm and cold climates throughout his career, Sanders stressed the significance of comfort and adaptability for players.

With Shedeur’s potential as a top pick in the upcoming draft, Sanders is committed to ensuring the best possible fit for his son’s professional career.
