Colorado head coach Deion Sanders recently stated that there are certain teams he wouldn’t want his star players Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter to play for in the NFL.
During an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Sanders expressed his belief that both players will likely be selected within the top four picks of the next year’s NFL draft. However, depending on the teams they are drafted by, they may choose not to play.
Sanders emphasized his preference for where he wants the players to go, mentioning, “There’s certain cities where it ain’t going to happen… It’s going to be an Eli Manning situation,” referring to the quarterback who famously refused to play for the San Diego Chargers and was eventually traded to the New York Giants.

In the previous season, Shedeur recorded impressive stats with 3,230 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, while Hunter showcased his versatility with 23 tackles and three interceptions as a cornerback, along with 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns as a wideout for the Buffaloes.
Sanders drew parallels between their potential situation and Eli Manning’s draft saga, suggesting the possibility of another unusual scenario in the 2025 NFL draft.
Though Sanders didn’t specify which teams he wants to avoid, he previously expressed a preference for Shedeur not to play in cold locations. Shedeur, who ultimately decided to return to Colorado for another season, was projected as a high draft pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
Sanders reiterated Shedeur’s draft potential, stating, “Shedeur would have been a high draft pick this year… Let’s just stop the foolishness and you get mad when I tell you.”
