Martavis Bryant’s return to the NFL faces another hurdle as he parts ways with his current team.
According to Tom Pelessero of NFL Media, the Cowboys have released Bryant as of Wednesday.
At 32, Bryant was reinstated into the league last year following an indefinite suspension starting in 2018.
Although he joined Dallas’ practice squad towards the end of the season, he didn’t see any action in a regular-season game.
Despite being let go from the practice squad in January, he later inked a futures deal with the team.
Since 2018, Bryant hasn’t played in an NFL game, his last stint being with the Oakland Raiders where he had 19 receptions for 266 yards in eight games.

Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014 as a fourth-round pick, Bryant’s future now lies uncertain.
Pelissero suggests that other teams are likely to show interest in Bryant.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have reportedly hosted veteran receiver Zay Jones, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, for a visit, potentially signaling a replacement for Bryant on their roster.
Bryant had his best seasons in the NFL with the Steelers in 2015 with 765 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
He seemed like a budding star with Ben Roethlisberger quarterbacking the team, but he was suspended for the entire 2016 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
He returned in 2017 and had 50 catches for 603 yards, but the Steelers traded him to the Raiders following the 2017 season.
