Talk about a corny deal.
In 2022, former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy made headlines when he was famously selected with the final pick of that year’s NFL Draft. Now in his third year with the San Francisco 49ers, Purdy earns a base salary of approximately $934,252 per season, ranking 54th among all NFL quarterbacks, according to OverTheCap.
Due to the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, Purdy won’t be eligible for a substantial extension until 2025 at the earliest. In the meantime, he’s seizing other opportunities off the field.
On Thursday, Pioneer Seeds U.S. announced Purdy’s official joining of their team. While the exact financial terms of Purdy’s partnership with Pioneer Seeds remain undisclosed, fans couldn’t resist making jokes about his new brand deal.

“Good to see Purdy getting paid through endorsements since he’s stuck in a rookie contract… love that this ties back to Iowa,” Kyle quipped.
“Oh come on 49ers – pay your guy enough that he doesn’t have to rep for Midwest corn! This is embarrassing!” Tim chimed in.
“Brock Purdy probably making more from this partnership than his NFL contract #PlantPioneer,” another fan humorously added.
Congratulations to Purdy on securing the new endorsement deal.
