Detroit Lions fans are facing criticism online for what many perceive as a classless act.
Kelley Stafford, the wife of former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who now plays for the Los Angeles Rams, claimed on social media that her children were booed during Detroit’s 24-23 win.
“It’s sports. The city wants to win. Everything is fair game…except fans who booed my children,” she wrote on Instagram.
Kelly has a complex relationship with Detroit fans, sometimes positive and sometimes bitter. Her social media posts often stir up controversy.
“Other than that, I loved the atmosphere, and the booing just gave my husband more fire,” she added. “The more you love, the more you hate. I consider it all love going both ways. And now that we’re out…I hope the Lions bring home a Lombardi to that city because that feeling is like no other.”

The claim led to fans criticizing Lions supporters, although not everyone believes it happened. Stafford played for the Lions from 2011 to 2018, achieving impressive stats and leading the team to the playoffs twice.
Matthew Stafford also appeared to criticize the city for the less-than-warm welcome he received.
