Tyreek Hill had to abruptly leave a Miami Dolphins practice last week due to a fire at his Florida mansion in Southwest Ranches, as revealed in the latest episode of Hard Knocks.
Hill shared with his teammates that the residence suffered extensive damage, including smoke and fire damage, with the entire upstairs being burnt down.
The fire, reportedly caused by a small child playing with a lighter, resulted in $2.3 million in property damages and an additional $1 million worth of ruined belongings, according to TMZ.
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel acknowledged the significant impact of the incident on Hill’s life, describing it as a “life adjustment” and emphasizing the importance of one’s home as a safe place. McDaniel expressed gratitude that Hill has the support of his family and teammates during this challenging time.

“It’s done,” Hill told teammates in the latest episode of Hard Knocks. “House done, bro. . . . Smoke damage, fire damage, the whole upstairs is burnt down.”
Following the fire, Hill missed a practice but returned the next day and played in the subsequent game against the Buffalo Bills. Despite the adversity, Hill performed well, catching seven of 13 targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in a 21-14 loss.
While Hill fell short of Calvin Johnson’s single-season record, he led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards and tied for the second-most catches (119) with Amon-Ra St. Brown, trailing only CeeDee Lamb.
With the Dolphins relinquishing control of the AFC East to the Buffalo Bills, Hill will now face his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, in a wild-card matchup on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be exclusively available for streaming on Peacock.
