WNBA star Kelsey Plum has released a poignant and somewhat enigmatic statement, hinting at a separation from her NFL husband, Darren Waller.
Plum, who plays for the Las Vegas Aces, and Waller, a tight end for the Giants, married last year. However, Plum’s recent statement suggests a change in their relationship: “I’m devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but I now see it’s time to go,” she expressed.
On the same day as her statement, records from Clark County District Court indicate that a joint petition for divorce was filed.
The accomplished WNBA athlete, celebrated for her consecutive championships with Las Vegas, alluded to future revelations about the reasons behind the split. “God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day,” Plum stated.

She concluded her message with words of gratitude and resilience: “Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and every day I will continue to choose joy. Much love, KP.”
Meanwhile, Waller, who is one of the highest-paid tight ends in the NFL with an annual salary of around $17 million, has not commented on the situation. Waller, who began his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015, moved to the Raiders in 2018, and switched to the Giants after the 2022 season.
Plum, notable for being the first overall pick in the 2017 WNBA draft, has established a remarkable career with two WNBA championships and multiple All-Star selections.
