The Denver Broncos have acquired quarterback Zach Wilson in a trade that saw them exchange late-round NFL draft picks with the New York Jets.
Nearly three years after the Jets drafted him second overall in 2021, the team has moved on from what many considered a failed experiment with Zach Wilson.
Wilson’s girlfriend, Nicolette Dellanno, appeared thrilled with the trade, posting an NFL graphic of the move to her Instagram story adorned with three orange heart emojis.

In the trade, the Broncos sent their sixth-round pick to the Jets in exchange for Wilson and a seventh-round pick from the Jets.
During his time with the Jets, the 24-year-old Wilson started 33 games, posting a 12-21 record. His tenure seemed uncertain after the Jets acquired four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. However, Rodgers’ injury in Week 1 temporarily thrust Wilson back into the starting role. His performance highlight of the 2023 season included throwing for 245 yards and two touchdowns in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Metlife Stadium, although the game ended in a loss, according to ESPN.com.
Wilson’s struggles were evident in New York, marked by inconsistent play and multiple benchings over the last two seasons.
Now in Denver, Wilson has an opportunity for a fresh start away from the intense scrutiny of New York’s media. Given the current quarterback situation in Denver, it might not be long before he sees playing time again.
