WWE superstar Chelsea Green recently recounted a distressing incident at a Manhattan hotel in New York City.
She claims she was asked to leave The Plaza Hotel because staff allegedly mistook her for an escort due to her attire.
This occurred just days before WrestleMania, during her visit to New York City for WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” event at Barclays Center.
Green had intended to enjoy drinks at The Plaza Hotel’s Champagne Bar before attending a Broadway show with a friend.
However, her plans were disrupted by the hotel staff’s apparent discomfort.
Green posted about the incident on X.
“Man… one night you’re wrestling at Barclays Center, having the time of your life and the next you’re being kicked out of@FairmontHotels and accused of being an escort because of your outfit Life is funny! Maybe next year I won’t celebrate Wrestlemania weekend at The Plaza Hotel LOL…”
According to Chelsea Green, the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. when she and her friend tried to begin their evening at the bar.
However, they were allegedly asked to leave because they were not guests at the Midtown hotel, as reported by TMZ.
Reportedly, an unidentified guest purportedly invited Green and her friend to join them for drinks, which enabled them to bypass security.
However, this escalated the situation.
“Get back here. We aren’t playing your games. We know what you’re doing here,” Green said that one of the staffers yelled.
Green expressed her belief that staff at the upscale Fifth Avenue establishment made assumptions about her attire—a white top, denim mini skirt, boots, and a coat—implying she was present for reasons beyond simply having a drink.
The two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion shared her feelings of being “pissed” and “embarrassed” by the crude insinuation, prompting her to leave the area momentarily before returning.
The Canadian native returned to the lobby in an attempt to speak with management, but she encountered three security guards who allegedly chased her out once more.
Undeterred, Green remained determined to converse with a manager, which she eventually achieved on her third attempt.
However, her interaction was overshadowed by the presence of the three security guards standing nearby, reportedly laughing.
In response to the ordeal, Green hinted that she may not choose The Plaza Hotel as her accommodation during WrestleMania weekend next year.
She shared her sentiments with a touch of humor, concluding her post on X with, “Life is funny! Maybe next year I won’t celebrate Wrestlemania weekend at The Plaza Hotel LOL…”
