A WNBA general manager is willing to part with her “whole team” to acquire Caitlin Clark.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes star was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in Monday night’s WNBA draft.
The general manager spoke anonymously with The Athletic and was quoted as saying this:
“I would trade my whole team for her. Partly because our owner would do it to sell tickets. But on top of that, that’s such a great piece to start to build around. She’s (like Diana) Taurasi coming out, and look what Taurasi’s done.”
It’s interesting that the general manager mentioned the legendary Diana Taurasi as there is plenty of beef between the two.

Taurasi was previously quoted as saying that a “reality check” is coming for Clark in the WNBA..
However, despite being great in her own right, Taurasi’s presence has never been close to the draw that Clark’s has been.
Clark is going to be a tremendous draw off the court and will certainly generate a ton of interest, especially in Indianapolis.
Clark’s arrival is poised to create an electrifying one-two punch with reigning Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston on the court and Fever fans should expect things to get turned around rather quickly.
Regardless of what she does in the WNBA, Clark has left an unforgettable imprint on college basketball as the NCAA Division I’s all-time leading scorer.
Despite not winning a National Championship, her monumental feat of amassing 3,951 career points ranks her sixth among all divisions’ scoring leaders.
Last month, she eclipsed Pete Maravich’s record to claim the title of the highest scorer in D-I history, regardless of gender.
Earlier this season, she surpassed Kelsey Plum’s women’s NCAA record and Lynette Woodard’s total of 3,649 points, achieved for Kansas from 1977 to 1981.
