Anticipation is building for the return of Chicago Sky star Angel Reese, who is preparing to step back onto the court after injuring her wrist toward the end of her rookie WNBA season.
While the new WNBA season doesn’t tip off until May, Reese will showcase her skills in the inaugural season of the Unrivaled 3-on-3 basketball league starting in January. She’s set to play for Rose BC alongside WNBA standouts Chelsea Gray and Lexie Hull.
At just 22 years old, Reese has quickly become one of the most recognized figures in the league, helping to elevate the WNBA to new heights with her charisma and dynamic play. Despite her contributions, however, Reese continues to face a disturbing amount of criticism and offensive commentary from detractors.
Recently, controversy erupted after Charleston White, a guest on the “Club 520” podcast hosted by former NBA guard Jeff Teague, made vulgar and demeaning remarks about Reese. During the episode, White suggested inappropriate actions, including starting an account on a popular adult platform, sparking immediate backlash online.
The incident did not go unnoticed by Las Vegas Aces guard Sydney Colson, who openly criticized Teague and his co-hosts for airing the episode despite White’s offensive comments.

“Having an ignorant ass sexist on and then actually dropping the episode and then wanting to collab with the W is craaazy work lmao,” Colson wrote on X (formerly Twitter), addressing the decision to publish the podcast.
Colson, a two-time WNBA champion known for her outspoken support of her peers, received widespread support from fans, many of whom echoed her outrage.
“Disgusting episode. Teague should know better,” wrote one commenter, while another labeled the former NBA All-Star and his co-hosts as “idiots” for their involvement.
“Cook those frauds for me, Syd,” added another fan, reinforcing the widespread disapproval of the podcast’s content.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time WNBA players like Reese have been subjected to inappropriate and sexist remarks. Earlier this year, Reese faced similar scrutiny during an episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, where NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal made suggestive comments about her. Despite backlash from fans and fellow athletes, O’Neal refused to apologize, controversially claiming, “Everything I do is planned.”
The ongoing disrespect faced by Reese and other WNBA stars highlights the broader challenges of sexism and misogyny within sports.
However, Reese remains focused on her career and the opportunities ahead, using her growing platform to inspire and elevate the game for herself and future generations.
With her debut in the Unrivaled league just around the corner, Reese is poised to continue making waves on and off the court, proving that her impact extends far beyond basketball.
