That’s gonna leave a mark.

The New York Yankees-Baltimore Orioles game on Wednesday experienced a delay when a camera operator was accidentally hit in the face by an errant throw.

It occurred during the bottom of the fifth inning when Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson hurriedly threw the ball in an attempt to complete a double play. Unfortunately, the throw missed first base and struck YES Network’s Pete Stendel in the face, who was stationed in the camera well beside the Yankees’ dugout.

Instantly, emergency personnel rushed to provide medical assistance to Stendel while players and fans watched in disbelief. Eventually, the umpires made the decision to allow both teams to temporarily leave the field.

After a few minutes, Stendel was carefully moved onto a cart while holding an ice pack to his face. As he departed from the field, he received a heartfelt ovation from the audience and responded with waves of his hand and peace signs as a gesture of gratitude.

According to YES Network’s postgame announcement, Stendel is conscious and currently undergoing tests at the hospital.

Gunnar Henderson expressed his concern, stating, “I hope he’s doing alright. My prayers go out to him, and I’m just thankful for the guys who rushed over there to help him”, as reported by Danielle Allentuck of the Baltimore Banner.

Following a 14-minute delay, the game resumed.
