As fans relocate across the country, it’s common for them to develop affinities for multiple teams.
Marianne Do, the Los Angeles Chargers fan who gained viral fame for her passionate reactions captured by ESPN’s cameras during the Monday night Chargers-Cowboys game, is not exclusively a Chargers devotee. It turns out she also harbors a deep love for the Vikings.
Amid the online speculation regarding whether she was a paid performer (she’s not), a snapshot from Do’s past surfaced, featuring her donning an Adam Thielen Vikings jersey and sporting purple face paint.
Following her appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and her emergence as a social media sensation among Chargers fans, Do confirmed to TMZ Sports that she originally hails from Minnesota.
She explained, “I grew up in Minnesota before moving to California almost 20 years ago,” Do told TMZ. “I don’t think you have to be a single-team fan. I love my Chargers and I’m not gonna deny my Vikings. At the end of the day, yes, I’ve been a Vikings fan, I’ve been through that journey as a Vikings fan and still am, but I’m here in L.A. for the past 20 years.”
In essence, Marianne Do is not a paid actor or a feigned enthusiast. She shares the same fervor as other dedicated football fans who passionately invest in every play. The unique aspect, however, is her dual allegiance to two teams that have never clinched a Super Bowl victory and are often associated with letdowns on the grand stage – a narrative reminiscent of the Chargers’ Monday night performance and the challenge the Vikings hope to avoid when they face the 49ers next Monday.
It can indeed be disconcerting to witness an enthusiast of one team fervently supporting another, as it goes against the traditional loyalties of sports fans.
