J.J. McCarthy is making the most out of his first NFL training camp with the Minnesota Vikings.
The former Michigan quarterback, who was the No. 10 overall pick by the Vikings in this year’s NFL draft, spent some quality time with his fiancée, Katya Kuropas, at training camp on Monday.
Kuropas shared a heartfelt moment on Instagram, posting a photo of McCarthy kissing her cheek while on the practice field at Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota.
“I loveeee you,” Kuropas captioned the photo, adding two white heart emojis. “Training camp Year 1.”
The Vikings hosted a sold-out crowd during Monday’s training camp session, where the rookie quarterback has already shown flashes of his potential, making impressive connections with his receivers.

Kuropas attended Vikings training camp after McCarthy signed a four-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $21.85 million earlier this month. The deal includes a $12.71 million signing bonus and a fifth-year team option.
Kuropas has been a constant presence in McCarthy’s life, standing by his side when the Vikings selected him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft in April. The Vikings traded up one pick with the Jets, moving from No. 11 to No. 10, to select McCarthy.
They sent the No. 11 pick, a fourth-round pick (No. 129), and a fifth-rounder (No. 157) to New York, receiving a sixth-round pick (No. 203) in return.
Three months prior to the draft, McCarthy proposed to Kuropas. The couple announced their engagement with a charming photo shoot that featured their English Cream Golden Retriever, Marley. “Me, You & Marley Forever & Ever,” they wrote in a joint Instagram post.
McCarthy, 21, proposed just two weeks after leading Michigan to a national championship victory over Washington. The couple, who began dating in high school at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois, celebrated their fifth anniversary in October 2023.
As McCarthy navigates his first NFL training camp, his fiancée’s support is unwavering, and their bond continues to strengthen. The Vikings are set to open the 2024 NFL season on the road against the Giants on September 8, where fans eagerly anticipate seeing McCarthy’s talents on full display.
