Sam Darnold seems to have taken a keen interest in the viral sensation known as Hawk Tuah.
The Minnesota Vikings quarterback appeared to make a move towards the young lady, whose real name is Hailey Welch, after she gained widespread attention for a particularly bold interview.
Hawk Tuah Girl, as Welch is famously known, captivated audiences when she was asked how she would please a man in bed. Her response included the now-viral phrase where she mentioned she would ‘spit on that thang.’ This unexpected answer quickly spread across social media, catching the eye of many, including Darnold.
Darnold, evidently intrigued by Welch’s candidness, decided to engage with her on social media. He left a heart emoji in the comment section of her viral interview, indicating his interest.

As far as the public knows, Sam Darnold is currently not in a relationship, making him free to enjoy Hawk Tuah’s unique charm. Darnold’s dating history includes Claire Kirksey, whom he dated during his college years at USC.
However, their relationship ended shortly after Darnold was drafted into the NFL. It seems he wasn’t receiving any Hawk Tuah at that time.
Darnold was drafted No. 3 overall by the New York Jets in 2018 and has played in 56 games over his career. He is now entering a new chapter with the Minnesota Vikings.
This offseason, the Vikings parted ways with Kirk Cousins, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
Darnold agreed to a one-year contract with the Vikings, potentially worth up to $10 million, according to ESPN. His experience makes him the favorite to start, especially given the competition from newly drafted QB J.J. McCarthy and Jaren Hall, a 2023 draft pick.
This fresh start with the Vikings presents a significant opportunity for Darnold to prove himself. While his professional life is taking an exciting turn, his playful interaction with Hailey Welch adds a fun, personal element to his off-field narrative.
Whether his interest in Hawk Tuah leads to anything more remains to be seen, but it certainly has fans talking.
