Monday was definitely a rough day for Jamal Murray, to put it mildly.
The Denver Nuggets standout Murray had a notably tough Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, shooting just 3-for-18 and scoring only eight points, leading to a heavy 106-80 defeat on their own court. The loss puts the Nuggets down 0-2 in the series as they prepare to travel to Minnesota.
Murray also caused a stir during the game when he threw a heat pack onto the court from the bench area in a moment of frustration. The incident occurred during live play and the heat pack made contact with several players under the basket. Despite this, Murray received no technical foul or other penalties, and it seems he also escaped notice for another similar incident where he reportedly threw a towel toward referee Marc Davis. The towel went unremarked as it landed behind Davis, unnoticed by him but picked up by a team staffer soon after.
The video of this second incident became popular online after being shared by Ryan Eichten of SB Nation. The towel incident took place just seconds before the heat pack was thrown.

Murray, like his coach Michael Malone, expressed significant frustration with the officiating during the game, at one point making a gesture that appeared to suggest a money sign in reference to the referees.
Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch condemned Murray’s action with the heat pack after the game, labeling it “inexcusable and dangerous.”
Despite avoiding any penalties during the game, Murray may still face disciplinary actions from the NBA after a review of his conduct on Monday, which could include fines or a suspension.
