That’s gonna leave a mark.
During a recent baseball game, South Carolina coach Mark Kingston encountered an unexpected surprise when he was struck in the chest by a ball. However, this didn’t deter him from continuing his interview with the broadcast booth.
While conversing with the commentary team, a ball suddenly made contact with Kingston’s chest. Remarkably, he carried on speaking, acknowledging the incident with remarkable composure.
“It’s Tuesday night, just got hit with a baseball, and gonna be a pro about it and keep going,” he calmly remarked, finishing his thought despite the interruption.
The commentators were impressed by Kingston’s resilience, with one noting, “We’ve done a lot of these, we’ve never had that happen before.”
Undeterred, Kingston assured them, “I’m good to go, guys,” before resuming the interview from the dugout.

Despite the interruption, the No. 20-ranked Gamecocks secured victory that night against Georgia State, marking their sixth consecutive win.
Looking ahead, South Carolina will kick off SEC play with a three-game series against Ole Miss on the road in Oxford. Following a one-game detour against USC Upstate, they’ll face off against traditional SEC powerhouse Vanderbilt in another three-game series in Columbia.
Since assuming the head coaching position in 2018, Kingston has led the Gamecocks to three NCAA tournament appearances and two regional championships, solidifying his tenure with notable successes.
