A recently surfaced video shows Hunter Dekkers, the quarterback for Iowa State, allegedly placing a bet on his own team.
This has resulted in criminal charges against Dekkers, who is accused of making over 300 bets totaling $2,799, with 26 of those bets believed to involve Iowa State games.

If found guilty, he could lose his NCAA eligibility.
Furthermore, Dekkers is also facing accusations of tampering with records during the state’s investigation.
In the video, he can be seen making a bet with a woman in a bar and asking her not to share the video because it is “technically illegal.”

It is unclear when the video was recorded, but it may date back to either 2020 or 2021.
It should be noted that the video only shows a casual handshake bet in a bar, not an official one with a sportsbook.
Nevertheless, given the existing trouble Dekkers is facing, the video deepens the controversy surrounding him.
