The highly anticipated New York Jets debut of the future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers took a disastrous turn with an injury.
While he was ruled out for the remainder of the game, X-rays provided a glimmer of hope by revealing no fractures in his injured ankle during Monday Night Football.
However, any optimism for a swift return faded when a replay of the injury unfolded, showcasing the exact moment of his Achilles injury as he was sacked by a Buffalo Bills defender.

The footage, especially in slow-motion, revealed the rupture of his calf muscle, indicating that he would be facing an extended absence.
The left leg, under Leonard Floyd, bore the brunt of the impact, resulting in the injury.

Buffalo Bills linebacker Leonard Floyd managed to sack Rodgers during New York’s opening series, and the former Green Bay Packers quarterback struggled to rise from the MetLife Stadium turf. This unfortunate incident marked the first, and perhaps only, time that New York Jets fans would witness Rodgers in action on their home field.
Rodgers was replaced by former Jets starter Zach Wilson and was subsequently carted off the field. While X-rays brought some relief by confirming the absence of a fracture, the Jets announced that Rodgers would not return to the game. Despite his absence, the Jets managed to secure a thrilling overtime victory, winning 22-16.
Following this remarkable comeback win, New York coach Robert Saleh expressed concerns that Rodgers may have sustained a devastating Achilles tear, an injury that could sideline him for the entire season. Given his current age, such an injury could potentially signal the end of his career in the league.
