The preseason matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars was halted on Saturday due to a frightening injury suffered by wide receiver Daewood Davis in the fourth quarter.
While on offense, Davis was running a route to receive a pass from James Blackman when he was forcefully hit by Jaguars defender Dequan Jackson, resulting in a flag for unnecessary roughness.
Davis remained motionless on the field for several minutes, prompting trainers to quickly assess his condition. To ensure his safety, Davis was immobilized, placed on a stretcher, and transported off the field via a cart.

Following the incident, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson mutually agreed to suspend the game with 8:32 remaining, as the Jaguars maintained a 31-18 lead.
The Dolphins later provided an update on Davis, stating that he had been taken to Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville for further evaluation. Fortunately, Davis was conscious and exhibited movement in all extremities.
Tua Tagovailoa, who had experienced his fair share of serious head injuries in the past, expressed his thoughts on Davis’ injury, emphasizing the unforeseen consequences that come with participating in such a physically demanding sport.
Tagovailoa also acknowledged the difficulty that the players would have faced if they were expected to continue playing after witnessing such a distressing event.

This incident marked the second preseason game suspension, following the cancellation of the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers game the previous week, when Patriots cornerback Isaiah Bolden collided with a teammate and had to be transported to the hospital.
Bolden was released the following day.
