The Los Angeles Lakers have chosen a significant date to pay tribute to one of their greatest players.
It was only a matter of time before the team erected a statue honoring Kobe Bryant outside their arena.
Tragically, Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gigi lost their lives in a helicopter crash in early 2020.
However, their legacies will be honored with the unveiling of a statue near the team’s Crypto.com arena in February.
This announcement was made by Kobe’s widow, Vanessa, in a video released on Thursday.
“On behalf of the Lakers, my daughters and me, I am so honored that right in the center of Los Angeles in front of the place known as ‘The house that Kobe built,’ we are going to unveil a statue so that his legacy can be celebrated forever,” Vanessa said.
Kobe’s legacy immortalized.

The statue will be revealed on February 8, 2024, a date that holds special meaning for both Bryant and Gigi.

Gigi wore the No. 2 on her basketball team, while Kobe played with both No. 8 and No. 24 for the Lakers.
This gesture from the Lakers is truly remarkable.
