Kobe Bryant is undoubtedly watching from above with a smile on his face.
The new college basketball season is officially commencing tonight, and the USC Trojans had the honor of being the first team to receive a delightful surprise. This generous gesture came courtesy of Vanessa Bryant and the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation, which presented the Trojans with unreleased Nike sneakers.
Earlier this fall, USC was distinguished as one of six NCAA teams designated as “Mamba Programs” in tribute to the legendary Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. These select programs will receive exclusive basketball shoes, apparel, and more throughout the upcoming season and beyond.

Thanks to the Trojans’ social media team, fans were treated to glimpses of the players’ reactions to this unexpected gift. The players responded with screams, dances, and heartfelt gratitude to Vanessa for the unreleased Nike Kobe 6 Protro sneakers in the ‘Reverse Grinch’ colorway. The Nike Kobe 6 Protro ‘Reverse Grinch’ is set for release on December 16, 2023.
Since the revival of the “Kobe Brand” in August, the availability of Nike Kobe sneakers has remained extremely limited. Vanessa has voiced her concerns about Nike’s role in this scarcity and has pledged to work on expanding access to these highly coveted basketball shoes.
While we eagerly await the release of more of Kobe’s iconic sneakers, online shoppers can explore the Trojans’ footwear and apparel on the Nike website. As the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball season gets underway, basketball enthusiasts can anticipate an array of sneaker highlights on the court.
Vanessa’s dedication to upholding Kobe’s remarkable legacy is evident and commendable.
