In yet another instance highlighting the effects of CTE on the brain, UFC middleweight Sean Strickland launched a homophobic tirade against legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady during a press conference.
Strickland, who is set to fight Paulo Costa next Saturday at UFC 302, was asked about the Tom Brady comedy roast and how Brady handled the jokes afterward.
True to form, Strickland responded with an expletive-filled rant, as he often does when given a microphone.
Known for his R-rated rants and politically incorrect statements, Strickland seems to relish in offending as many people as possible without fear of being challenged.
After the Netflix comedy roast, Tom Brady appeared on a podcast expressing regret about his participation in the show, particularly concerning the impact the jokes had on his children, especially those targeting their mother, Gisele Bündchen.
Despite knowing the mean-spirited nature of comedy roasts, Brady was seemingly unprepared for the personal attacks.
This did not sit well with Strickland, who used the opportunity to launch into a tirade, possibly reflective of his brain damage from years of head trauma.
During Wednesday’s press conference ahead of UFC 302, Strickland said:
“He was a c–t, bro. You got mad and said don’t talk about my wife like that. Listen, you f–king psy. You signed up to be made fun of; if you can’t handle it, don’t f–king do it. Me? I don’t know if I can handle it. He handled that like a f–king woman, dude. You act like a f–kng girl. You pet f–kng goats and you post gay f–kng photos, dude. Like, man the f–k up. No one thinks you are tough, Tom Brady. You are making fun of a f–kng comedian. You f–kng p–sy.”
Such outbursts from Strickland, while unfortunately not surprising, serve as stark reminders of the potential long-term impacts of repeated head injuries on behavior and mental health.
