Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa surprised his teammates with holiday gifts, but the response from wide receiver Tyreek Hill suggested he might have expected something more extravagant than what he received.
In a post on Wednesday, the All-Pro wide receiver shared that while Tagovailoa gifted the quarterbacks golf simulators, his present for each wide receiver was an iPod.
“Tua got the QB golf simulators, but got the WRs’ iPod,” Hill mentioned.
Fans expressed surprise that Tagovailoa chose iPods, considering they have been out of style for a while, with most people having transitioned to smartphones. Some took the opportunity for humor:
“2,000 yards + an iPod would be pretty solid though,” one user quipped.
“iPods??? What is this, 2010????” wrote another.
“That man poor compared to you,” a third person humorously pointed out.
It’s possible that once Tagovailoa secures a significant contract extension, he may be able to afford more lavish gifts for his wide receivers. While Tyreek Hill can likely buy whatever he desires, there’s always a special joy in receiving a thoughtful gift, even if it’s not exactly what one had in mind.
