Tyreek Hill is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with plus-size influencer Sophie Hall, who is suing the NFL star, claiming he inflicted a severe injury on her during a backyard football session.
According to DailyMail.com, Hall alleges that Hill’s forceful tackle broke her right leg, necessitating reconstructive surgery.
However, Hill’s legal team has countered in recent court filings, arguing that the incident was an accident, claiming Hall tripped over a dog while participating in the drills at Hill’s home in Southwest Ranches, Florida, last June. They also suggest that Hall’s injuries were pre-existing and have asked a Broward County judge to dismiss the suit, stating it lacks a viable basis for punitive damages.
The filings explain, “Plaintiff consented to participating in a sports activity that involved contact and thus there was a good faith basis to believe that the plaintiff was aware that contact would be involved, despite, in this case, plaintiff was not touched by [Hill] as she tripped over a dog.”
Hill’s lawyers also stated that Hall’s injuries, including issues with her knee, predated the incident. Hall had initially felt she held her own against Hill during the scrimmage, even causing him to stumble, which she claimed changed his demeanor and led to the forceful tackle.
Amid these allegations, Hall took to social media to share images of her injuries and her recovery process, garnering support from her two million followers.
The situation adds to a series of controversies surrounding Hill, including past legal troubles and personal life turmoil. These include a house fire, altercations, and multiple legal disputes concerning paternity and support claims.
Hill’s attorney, Julius Collins, has defended his client by saying the notion that Hill reacted violently due to being outplayed is absurd and pointed out that Hill’s actions during the drill were part of a playful activity, not meant to cause harm.
Hill’s complex off-field history continues to unfold as he faces this new legal challenge.
