Earlier this week, it was announced that HBO’s in-season edition of “Hard Knocks” will be focusing on the Miami Dolphins.
In discussions with the media this week, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa expressed his reluctance regarding the intrusion of “Hard Knocks” into Miami’s facilities.
“I just like to keep things private in how I do things,” Tagovailoa said, via the Palm Beach Post. “But this isn’t just about me. This isn’t something that’s for me. This is something for the entire team and the entire team has to figure out how they go about that as well. So I know having conversations with some guys in the locker room that for them, it’s going to be tough as well.”
Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard didn’t mince words when sharing his thoughts on the matter.
“Hard Knocks is bulls–t, especially during the season,” Howard said. “No, I’m serious. I’m not a fan.”
Despite the apparent discontent within the Miami roster, head coach Mike McDaniel remains confident that his team can handle the added spotlight.

“I know there’s some guys on this team that garner interest, and I think that a platform for them to showcase who they are, and really the fan base to get to know the players and coaches better — I can understand the value to the National Football League, to HBO, to NFL Films, and I can understand the value for the Miami Dolphins,” McDaniel said. “It’s something that I think this particular team is equipped to handle, just because of the way they go about their day-to-day jobs.”
Although the presence of “Hard Knocks” may not sit well with the Dolphins, it’s a promotional necessity for the NFL, and they must embrace it to advance their exposure.
