In NFL circles, not everyone shares the same level of enthusiasm for the Taylor Swift phenomenon.
Taylor Swift has seemingly made a significant impact on the NFL, largely due to her rumored relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. However, during ESPN’s Monday night broadcast of the game between the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants, Troy Aikman and Joe Buck deliberately avoided mentioning her.
The New York football teams, both the Giants and the Jets, have had a challenging start to the season, each with a 1-3 record. On this particular Monday night, the Seahawks secured a 24-3 victory at MetLife Stadium while Aikman and Buck were in the commentary booth. Some fans may have been relieved that Swift’s name didn’t come up during the broadcast.

Swift had been present at the stadium to watch Kelce play against the Jets over the weekend, a presence that contributed to NBC attracting record-breaking ratings.
While the NFL has likely appreciated the extra attention stemming from the rumors of their connection, it appears that fans might be growing weary of the pop sensation. In fact, she faced boos from the crowd when one of her commercials aired on the MetLife jumbotron on Monday.
During the fourth quarter of the game, Aikman and Buck shared a lighthearted exchange related to Swift, acknowledging their effort to steer clear of discussing her. Buck and Aikman refused to mention her name.
Joe Buck: “You know what this game needs..”
Troy Aikman laughs.
Buck: “We made it to 5:26 to play without saying…”
Troy Aikman laughs.
Buck: “You going to say it?”
Troy: “I don’t think I need to.”
The impact of potential Taylor Swift saturation on the NFL audience remains uncertain, but only time will reveal whether the NFL’s decision to align with the Taylor Swift phenomenon might lead to a negative response from fans.
