Chance Comanche, a former NBA G League player, and his ex-girlfriend are scheduled to stand trial together in March of 2025.
The pair are allegedly involved in the murder of a 23-year-old woman whose body was discovered in Nevada in December.
Comanche, 27, originally from Los Angeles, most recently played for the Stockton Kings of the NBA G League before his arrest in Sacramento, California three months ago.
Comanche appeared before a judge in Clark County, Nevada and entered a plea of not guilty to charges of murder and kidnapping last week, according to reports.
ESPN has reported that Comanche, a 6-ft-10 power forward who played collegiately at the University of Arizona, will not face the death penalty if found guilty at trial.
However, the legal proceedings are still underway, and any discussions regarding guilt or innocence remain speculative until a verdict is reached.
Comanche’s former girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, who is also implicated in the murder and kidnapping charges related to the death of Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Lynnwood, Washington, pleaded not guilty as well.
According to Las Vegas police, Rodgers was choked to death on December 6. Her remains were subsequently discovered in a roadside ditch in suburban Henderson, Nevada.
Autopsy results, reported by multiple outlets including ESPN, concluded that Marayna Rodgers’ death was a homicide caused by asphyxia due to strangulation.
Following his arrest, Chance Comanche was released by the Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings.
