Trevor Bauer, the star right-handed pitcher for Diablos Rojos del Mexico and former ace for the Los Angeles Dodgers, recently celebrated a monumental achievement in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB).
After a game that saw him shatter the league’s single-game strikeout record, Bauer was seen sharing a joyful moment with his agent, Rachel Luba.
During this historic outing, Bauer delivered an astounding performance by striking out 19 batters, setting a new benchmark for the Mexican League.
His impressive feat surpassed his own previous record of nine consecutive strikeouts in a single LMB game. Bauer’s stellar pitching helped secure a 6-1 victory for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico over the Guerreros de Oaxaca, further cementing his impact in the league.
Over the course of 8.2 innings, he allowed just one earned run and five hits, demonstrating both his skill and endurance on the mound.

This achievement comes after a tumultuous period in Bauer’s career. The 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner has not pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) since July 2021, following assault allegations made by Lindsey Hill in 2021.
The MLB responded by handing Bauer a significant suspension, initially set for two full seasons but later reduced to 194 games. Subsequently, the Dodgers terminated his contract on January 12, 2023, leaving his MLB career in uncertainty.
Since his departure from MLB, Bauer’s professional journey took him to the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) through the efforts of his agent, Rachel Luba. In the 2023 NPB season, Bauer showcased his enduring talent, compiling a 10-4 record with an impressive 2.76 ERA. Following his stint in Japan, Luba facilitated another move, this time to the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the LMB. Initially signed for just five games, Bauer’s contract was extended through the end of the 2024 season thanks to his dominant performances.
Reflecting on Bauer’s recent extension, Rachel Luba shared her enthusiasm for his continued success in the LMB. “He came down just for five games initially, but was really enjoying it. He decided it’s not a bad place to be while trying to get back into MLB,” she said. This statement highlights both Bauer’s adaptability and his ongoing aspirations to return to Major League Baseball.
As Bauer continues to dominate in the Mexican League, his future remains a topic of speculation. With a resurgent career abroad and an impressive track record post-MLB, Bauer and Luba are likely keeping an eye on potential opportunities for a return to the major leagues.
Whether or not MLB teams will express interest in Bauer’s return is uncertain, but his performances in the LMB are undeniably making a compelling case for another chance in the big leagues.
