Ed Kelce isn’t holding back when it comes to Kanye West’s latest lyrics.
The father of NFL star Travis Kelce took to Facebook on Thursday to voice his strong disapproval of the rapper’s new song “Lifestyle” from the “Vultures 2” album, where both his son and Taylor Swift are name-dropped.
Ed Kelce shared an article that highlighted the “not-so-subtle” reference to the famous couple, and he didn’t mince words in his reaction.
He described the lyric as “mental illness on full display,” a pointed remark given that West has been open about his struggles with bipolar disorder.
The controversial mention occurs in a verse by Lil Wayne, where he raps, “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce.” The lyric has sparked conversation, especially since it revives echoes of the long-standing feud between West and Swift, which dates back to 2016 when West famously referred to Swift as “that bitch” in his song “Famous.”

Although Taylor Swift hasn’t publicly responded to the lyric, her fans, known as Swifties, believe she may have subtly addressed it during her Poland Eras Tour performance. During the “Red” segment of her show, she wore a shirt that read “I Bet You Think About Me,” a nod to her 2021 song that many believe is about West. This sartorial choice is seen by fans as a clever and pointed response to the ongoing drama.
Travis Kelce, who has been deeply involved in the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp since July, has also remained silent on the matter. However, his father’s outspoken reaction isn’t entirely surprising, given Travis’s previous comments about his dad’s tendency to react strongly to online headlines. In a June appearance on the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, Travis jokingly mentioned how his dad sometimes falls for “wild s–t” he reads online, often calling him up with questions about outlandish stories.
Travis and Swift, who began dating in July 2023, are still going strong despite the occasional drama that comes with being in the public eye. Recently, Travis was reportedly “very concerned” for Taylor after her Vienna concerts were abruptly canceled due to a foiled terrorist plot. Despite his concern, a source noted that Travis wouldn’t be able to rush to her side because of his NFL commitments.
As Ed Kelce’s Facebook post makes the rounds, it’s clear that the Kelce family is not taking Kanye West’s latest lyrical jab lightly, adding yet another chapter to the ongoing saga involving some of the biggest names in music and sports.
