Ed Kelce, the father of NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce, recently revealed that he was permanently banned from X (formerly known as Twitter) over a post that allegedly violated the platform’s rules, despite his claims that his account had been hacked. The surprising news came when Ed took to Facebook to share his frustration with the situation, drawing attention to what he sees as a double standard in how the platform enforces its policies.
In his initial post, Ed shared a news story about Houthi arms dealers reportedly using X to sell weapons. Alongside the article, he wrote, “Arms dealers are free to peddle their wares on X, but I’m banned for life and they won’t say why, just a generic ‘Terms of Service’ violation.” This cryptic explanation left many of his followers wondering what could have led to such a severe punishment.
Following the announcement, Ed provided more details in a subsequent Facebook post, where he further expressed his frustration with the situation and the people he blames for it. In his candid post, he also took a swipe at the “social media turds” who he believes are responsible for his ban.
“Let me try and clear something up here,” Ed began. “I’m rarely on Facebook or Instagram. I get Google alerts in my email about articles mentioning the boys and remotely post them to Facebook for friends and family to see.”

Ed continued, explaining his motivations for posting about arms dealers on X: “I posted the thing about arms dealers active on X because frankly, I was pissed at Elon’s trolls. I rarely wrote anything on X; I just followed sports reporters. It’s handy during games to hear what those guys have to say, particularly at stadiums where you don’t have commentators the way you do watching on TV.”
Ed went on to describe his limited activity on X, noting that he primarily used the platform from September to February to follow sports news. However, he was shocked to learn that the platform claimed he had violated their rules in May or June 2023. “Never happened,” Ed asserted. “I’m guessing I was hacked, as the platform isn’t all that secure.”
He concluded his post with a pointed remark: “My comments when I started this conversation were merely to highlight the hypocrisy of these social media turds.”
The Kelce family has experienced a significant rise in public attention, especially since Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce began dating pop icon Taylor Swift last September. The couple’s relationship has put the entire Kelce clan in the spotlight, with even their father, Ed, becoming a topic of conversation.
Travis and Jason Kelce humorously discussed their father’s newfound fame on their “New Heights” podcast, particularly a moment when Ed was seen chatting with Taylor Swift during a Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos last October.
“Papa Kelce in the spotlight. If you were watching the game, you saw something momentous happen,” Jason remarked.
“Momentous,” Travis added, before Jason continued, “He shouldn’t be talking to Taylor Swift.”
Travis chimed in, saying, “If you see Dad talking to someone and you can’t hear what’s happening, who knows where that conversation is going.”
Reflecting on the incident, Travis joked, “You know Dad like I know Dad. This is a terrifying conversation. I felt terrible for Taylor for being in this.”
Despite the social media drama and the Kelce family’s growing fame, it’s clear that Ed Kelce isn’t afraid to speak his mind—even if it means taking on one of the largest social media platforms in the world.
