Ed Kelce, the father of NFL stars Travis and Jason Kelce, recently revealed that he has been permanently banned from the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), and he’s still in the dark about the reason. Kelce shared the surprising news on Facebook, expressing his frustration over the lack of clarity surrounding his ban.
In his post, Ed Kelce highlighted the irony of his situation by sharing a news story about Houthi arms dealers allegedly using X to sell weapons. “Arms dealers are free to peddle their wares on X, but I’m banned for life and they won’t say why, just a generic ‘Terms of Service’ violation,” Kelce wrote, expressing his confusion and disbelief at the platform’s decision.
The Kelce family has seen a significant rise in public attention, especially since Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce began dating pop icon Taylor Swift last September. The relationship has thrust the entire Kelce clan into the spotlight, with fans and media alike closely following their every move.
The Kelce brothers, who co-host the popular “New Heights” podcast, even joked about their father’s interactions with Swift during a Chiefs game against the Denver Broncos last October. On the podcast, Jason Kelce teased about their dad’s newfound fame, saying, “Papa Kelce in the spotlight. If you were watching the game, you saw something momentous happen.” Travis chimed in, adding, “He shouldn’t be talking to Taylor Swift.” The brothers laughed about how nerve-wracking it was to see their dad chatting with Swift, with Travis humorously admitting, “You know Dad like I know Dad. This is a terrifying conversation. I felt terrible for Taylor for being in this.”

Despite their playful ribbing, both Travis and Jason hold their father in high regard. During the same podcast episode, Travis emphasized, “We have the best f***ing dad in the world.”
Interestingly, Ed Kelce seems to have formed a friendly relationship with Swift as well. The two were spotted celebrating together after the Chiefs’ victory over the Ravens last season, which secured their spot in the Super Bowl. Ed has spoken highly of Swift, particularly praising her graciousness behind the scenes. In an interview on the TODAY show in January, he shared insights into how Swift handles the constant attention she receives at games. “Every game, there’s people crowding outside the front of that suite trying to get a glimpse of Taylor, wanting to meet Taylor,” Ed said. “Taylor’s very gracious, but she can’t do everything. And she’s got security guys who don’t want her doing anything. That’s their job, and she’s smart enough to know, ‘I’m paying these guys to keep me safe. I should probably listen to them.’ But if it was up to her, she’d be out there with everyone who wants her.”
With the NFL season set to kick off on September 5, Ed Kelce and Swift will likely be spending more time together as they continue to support Travis and the Chiefs. The team’s first game of the season will see them face off against the Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
In the meantime, Travis and Swift have been enjoying some downtime before the football season begins, spending time at Swift’s Rhode Island mansion with fellow NFL star Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany, following the conclusion of Swift’s European tour last week.
As for Ed Kelce, while he may be off X indefinitely, his connection with the fans and his growing fame as the father of two NFL stars, and now a friend of Taylor Swift, shows no signs of slowing down.
