Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift may be two of the most prominent figures in their respective worlds—Kelce as a star NFL player and Swift as a 14-time Grammy-winning singer—but they’ve managed to keep much of their relationship away from the public eye. Their high-profile romance has captivated fans, blending the worlds of football and pop music, but glimpses into their private life are rare.
However, Kelce’s best friend, Aric Jones, recently provided some insight into their relationship, even going so far as to describe Swift as “family.”
Jones, who owns the clothing brand Homebred Legends—named in tribute to Kelce’s roots in Cleveland Heights, Ohio—opened up about how close Swift has become with Kelce’s inner circle, which includes Jones himself. He explained that Swift’s connection with Kelce has naturally extended to the people closest to him, just as her friendship with Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes, has deepened over time.
“She has stuff, of course. Why wouldn’t she? That’s family,” Jones shared in an interview with People, referring to how Swift has become part of Kelce’s personal circle. “Once you’re in the family, you’re fully engraved in this anyway, so it’s like, why not do that for the people you care the most about? It’s an honor.”
Jones also reflected on his friendship with Kelce, shedding light on the qualities that likely make him so endearing to Swift. He spoke about Kelce’s unique ability to make everyone around him feel valued, a trait that has helped him form strong connections both on and off the field.
“I think the greatest thing about Travis is his gravitational force that he has to just pull everybody in,” Jones said. “And his superpower is—and his mom, Donna Kelce, said it one time and it completely resonated with me—is that when he’s talking to somebody, he makes that person feel like they’re the only person in the room. Everybody feels that Travis is their homeboy.”
Kelce and Swift’s relationship has been public for over a year now, first making waves in September when Swift was spotted cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs during a game against the Chicago Bears. Since then, the couple has garnered attention for Swift’s frequent appearances at Kelce’s games, adding a new layer of excitement for fans of both the NFL and Swift’s music.
Interestingly, the Chiefs have performed remarkably well with Swift in attendance, boasting a 13-3 record when she’s watching from the stands. This season alone, they are 3-0 when the “Anti-Hero” singer makes an appearance in a luxury suite at Arrowhead Stadium.
Swift’s support for Kelce goes beyond regular-season games. She was present for each of the Chiefs’ playoff victories last season, traveling to different cities to cheer on her boyfriend. Most notably, Swift made a whirlwind trip back from Japan, where she was performing as part of her “Eras Tour,” to attend the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. There, she witnessed Kansas City clinch their second consecutive championship at Allegiant Stadium.
However, Swift’s busy schedule occasionally conflicts with her football fan duties. She won’t be in attendance for the Chiefs’ upcoming road game against the San Francisco 49ers, as she’ll be performing the last of three stadium shows in Miami that day.
Despite their packed schedules, Kelce and Swift seem to balance their high-profile careers with a deep personal connection.
And with close friends like Aric Jones describing Swift as part of the family, it’s clear that their relationship continues to grow stronger behind the scenes—even as fans eagerly follow their every public move.
