The discussion began with Jason’s latest appearance on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” where his choice of shoes caught the attention of fans and his younger brother alike.
Jason, who recently made headlines for his viral velour tracksuit and dance moves at a Philadelphia Eagles game, revealed that he had toned things down for the studio. Instead of his usual playful stadium attire, he opted for a more formal look while hosting the Sept. 23 broadcast, but one element stood out: his shoes. Jason’s choice of New Balance sneakers, affectionately dubbed “dad shoes,” became the focal point of some fan tweets and a good-natured roast from Travis.
“ESPN didn’t want to see you go apes—t in Buffalo, did they?” Travis joked, referring to his brother’s usual energetic style. He then zeroed in on the shoes, saying, “The biggest takeaway… was definitely your dad sneakers.” Travis continued to rib his older brother, calling them “the ol’ dad Balances” and likening them to shoes their father, Ed Kelce, would wear.
“You could fix the second-floor bathroom in those things, spread some mulch, or even ask your kids to cut the grass,” Travis teased, piling on a list of dad-like activities that he imagined could be done while wearing Jason’s New Balances.
In response, Jason embraced the critique with humor. “You can do anything you want in these!” he proudly declared, showing no shame in his practical footwear.

Travis then swapped out his initial footwear choice of Fear of God mules for a pair of rare red Jordan 3 Retro “Legends of the Summer” sneakers, adding even more flair to his ensemble.
Travis explained that the sneakers, a limited-edition collaboration between Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, were highly coveted, with a pair recently selling at auction for between $15,000 and $18,000. “I like different textures; that’s why I like these shoes,” Travis said, proudly noting that his connection to Timberlake only added to his appreciation of the kicks. “And I know Justin Timberlake, that’s my dawg,” he added with a grin.
The brothers’ contrasting style philosophies became even more apparent when Travis spoke about his cropped trousers, a look he dubbed “floodin’.” He stood by his choice to embrace the trend, saying, “I really don’t care what’s in, what’s not in. I just go out there and have fun wearing some s—t that I think looks cool. I wanted to flood because I thought I had some cool shoes on.”
